D1 Killer #3: Low Exit Velocity

Welcome back to Day 4! I'm Coach Dan from +PWR and today, we'll talk about the third biggest D1 Killer: Low Exit Velocity

Problems With Low Exit Velocity

  • Problem: You don't consistently hit the ball hard enough
  • What it Means: Your bat speed and your body's ability to rotate isn't fast enough to generate power during your swing.
  • How it Shows Up: You only hit singles, you are a bottom of the lineup hitter, and you’re easy out.

Solution: Train your bat speed

  • What to Do: Do hitting drills and workouts that train you to swing the bat faster.
  • Why it Helps: When you train your train your body to swing faster, you’ll be able to hit the ball harder more effortlessly.
  • Example: Underload/overload training 3x per week.

What to Expect Next

Hitting the ball harder is crucial to getting recruited to a Division 1 school.
