Killer #2:Â No Speed
Watch this video to learn how to gain college level speed.
D1Â Killer #2: No Speed
Welcome back to Day 3! I'm Coach Mike from +PWR and today, we'll talk about the second biggest D1 Killer: No Speed
Problems With Having No Speed:
- Problem:Â You're too slow to make an impact at the Division 1 level
- What it Means:Â Your body is not able to move fast enough athletically to create the results you want.
- How it Shows Up: If you’re slow, you won't be able to steal a base when your team needs it, you can't play multiple positions, and you'll become a one dimensional player.Â
Solution: Fix Your Direction
- What to Do:Â Train your speed at least two times per week.
- Why it Helps: When you train your body to move faster, you’ll not only run faster, but you’ll become more athletic and have the ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
- Example: First, start by addressing your running mechanics. This is the first step to gaining speed, followed by a series of different plyometric and sprinting drills.
What to Expect Next
Getting faster is key to impressing college coaches and earning a college scholarship.Â
